Matthew 26: 14Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests 15and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty silver coins. 16From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.
Ouch.
21And while they were eating, he said, “I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me.”
25Then Judas, the one who would betray him, said, “Surely not I, Rabbi?”
Jesus answered, “Yes, it is you.”
Do I get cheaper by the minute? Would I beat the competition and sell Jesus off for 25 pieces? I imagine that scene in the Passion- Judas’ toss of his soul in the form of a bag of coins, in which spills out from the hands of the high priests. Slow motion.
Our Pope is brilliant. Benedict says this about Judas- “Judas is neither master of evil nor the figure of demoniacal power of darkness but rather a syophant who bows down before the anonymous power of changing moods and current fashion.”
To give credit to satan by means of Judas is rewarding satan something that will never be his, rule over God- this of course of course being outlandish and out of place. Free are the children of God. To identify with evil does not fit the nature of a child, but rather the truest sense of demonic possession.
